Irene Souka

Le directeur général de la direction générale des ressources humaines vient de quitter l’institution au terme des 40 années de service, dont 11 comme directeur général à la DG HR.

Irène Souka a joué un rôle de premier plan pour la gestion des ressources humaines de la Commission, dans un contexte souvent très difficile au cours duquel les fondamentaux de la carrière de la fonction publique européenne ont été malmenés.

Durant cette période, le dialogue social a été consolidé à la Commission, faisant de cette institution un exemple à suivre par l’ensemble des institutions européennes. Irène Souka a également tenté de promouvoir une réforme du dialogue social et de la représentation du personnel, qui n’a pu aboutir, en raison de résistances . Cette question reste à l’ordre du jour.

Irène Souka a aussi poursuivi la professionnalisation de ses équipes dans une perspective européenne, améliorant ainsi la qualité et la permanence du dialogue social.

Irène Souka a montré une grande ouverture au dialogue et un sens certain du compromis, sans lequel l’intérêt de l’institution et celui du personnel, l’un n’allant pas sans l’autre, ne saurait se rencontrer.

The Director General of the Human Resources Directorate has just left the institution after 40 years of service, including 11 as Director General at DG HR.

Irène Souka played a leading role in the management of the Commission's human resources, in an often very difficult context during which the fundamentals of the European public service career were abused.

During this period, social dialogue was consolidated in the Commission, making this institution an example to be followed by all the European institutions. Irene Souka also tried to promote a reform of social dialogue and staff representation, which was unsuccessful due to resistance. This issue remains on the agenda.

Irène Souka also continued to professionalize her teams from a European perspective, thereby improving the quality and permanence of social dialogue.

Irène Souka showed a great openness to dialogue and a certain sense of compromise, without which the interest of the institution and that of the staff, one not going without the other, could not to meet.
